Edible oil17+ sites · tank farm
Edible-oil major monitors 17+ tank farms from one HO dashboard.
A national edible-oil producer runs KMS at every one of 17+ tank-farm sites — collecting tank-level telemetry, computing oil tally and cost per movement, and emailing daily level reports to every named stakeholder before 7 a.m. Sitting in HO, leadership now sees every site, every tank, in real time. Oil misplacement is gone; reconciliation is automatic.
The challenge
- 17+ tank-farm sites scattered across the country, no central visibility from HO
- Tank-level monitoring done site-by-site, with daily numbers chased over phone and email
- Oil tally and cost calculation done manually per movement — error-prone and slow
- Risk of oil misplacement and unaccounted transfers between tanks went undetected
- HO leadership had to wait for end-of-day spreadsheets to know where stock sat
What we did
- Deployed KMS at each of the 17+ sites, with native level-sensor and PLC connectors
- Streamed tank levels into a single central KMS cluster — every tank, every site, every second
- Built one HO live dashboard showing fleet-wide tank levels, fill rates and reconciliation status
- Configured KMS to compute oil tally and cost on every transfer — with a full audit trail
- Automated a 07:00 IST daily-level email to every named stakeholder, generated from the historian
The results
- HO sees every tank, every site, in real time — no more waiting on yesterday's spreadsheet
- Daily stakeholder emails delivered automatically — recipients have stopped chasing the numbers
- Oil tally and cost calculation now accurate to the litre — and reproducible from the audit trail
- Zero oil misplacement since rollout — every movement reconciles against the historian
- Operations decisions are made from live data, not best-effort hand-offs between shifts

“From HO I can see every tank in every site, right now. The 7 a.m. report lands before I'm at my desk, oil tally is reconciled the moment a transfer happens, and we stopped finding stock unaccounted for.”
