A connected factory, from sensor to action

LoRa sensors bring live monitoring, SCADA, maintenance and audio alarms together.

Factory turned KMS into its central nervous system — LoRa, SCADA, CMMS and audio alarms, all in one.

A discrete-manufacturing customer rolled out KMS as the entire monitoring + maintenance backbone for one of their factories. Dozens of LoRa sensors stream live data into KMS SCADA, history is reported out of the KMS historian, every asset and maintenance event lives in KMS CMMS, and visual + audio alarms close the loop the moment a threshold is breached. One platform replaced four.

The challenge

  • Mix of LoRa sensors deployed across the factory with no central aggregation
  • Real-time view existed only in spreadsheets and isolated panel mimics
  • Historical reporting was end-of-shift Excel pulls
  • Asset register and PM tracked in a separate CMMS / paper logs
  • Alarms scattered: panel lamps here, emails there, no audio escalation

What we did

  • Plumbed the LoRa gateway into KMS — every sensor mapped into the unified ISA-95 model
  • KMS SCADA gives operators a single live view of the entire factory
  • KMS Historian back-fills history; reports run from the same data store
  • KMS CMMS manages every asset, work order, PM schedule and spares — linked to live tags for usage-based maintenance
  • Visual alarm banner + audio alarm tower wired to the KMS rules engine; critical events trigger both at once

The results

  • One platform: data centralization + monitoring + alarms + asset maintenance
  • Operators see live LoRa sensor data with sub-second updates on KMS SCADA
  • Audio alarms close the loop — critical events stop going unnoticed
  • PM scheduled by actual usage hours from the historian, not by the calendar
  • Maintenance team logs work-orders against the same asset records the operators see — one vendor, one stack, one bill

“Operators have one screen. Maintenance has one screen. The alarm tower goes off the second something needs attention. Nothing falls through the cracks any more.”
